Sim-racing setup guide
Stabilize the driver and controls first. Then improve braking, force feedback, vision and secondary feedback in the order that solves real limitations.

Write down what is preventing consistent laps: the chair moves, the pedal deck flexes, the brake is difficult to repeat, the wheel clips, the view is too narrow or the controls are hard to reach. An upgrade should solve a named limitation rather than satisfy a general desire for more equipment.
Stop movement before increasing force. A desk clamp or wheel stand can be adequate for lower-force equipment, but a firm brake and stronger wheelbase expose flex quickly. The driver, seat, wheel and pedals need to remain in the same relationship under load.
Set the seat so the hips and shoulders remain supported while the brake reaches the required force. Position the wheel with bent elbows and relaxed shoulders. Mark adjustment points when the rig is shared so the geometry can be restored.
A load-cell or pressure-sensitive brake can improve repeatability when the mount and seat are stable. Select a maximum brake force that the driver can reach without lifting from the seat or pulling on the wheel, then recalibrate after mechanical changes.
Compare platform support, mounting, torque headroom, software, quick release and available wheel rims together. More torque is useful only when the cockpit can resist it and the driver can use it comfortably without masking detail or creating fatigue.
Set the seat and eye position first. A single screen is simple, an ultrawide expands horizontal view, triples provide configurable side vision and VR adds head movement and depth cues. Each option has different space, rendering and comfort requirements.
Add accessories to solve a specific control or feedback need. Tune tactile and motion effects one at a time so the driver can distinguish the cue. Record profiles before firmware or software changes.
